Three steps to a nearby conversation

Install offChat
Download KingFy from Google Play and open the offChat module on Android. Mesh chat does not run in the browser.

Turn on radios and permissions
Enable Bluetooth and, if the phone offers it, Wi-Fi Direct. Grant the Android permissions required to discover nearby devices.

Find who is close
Keep the other phone on the same app, within radio range. Discover it on the local mesh and start the conversation.
Honest limits
Range depends on the phone radio, walls, crowds and terrain. There is no delivery to another city without internet. Both sides — or the mesh chain — need KingFy Android with offChat on.

What is offChat?
offChat (KingFy OffChat) is the local communication module of the KingFy Android app, operated by KingFy LLC. It sends notes between nearby phones over Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct and a P2P mesh. It is not a standalone store listing and is not affiliated with other products named OffChat.
How does offChat work without the internet?
In a nearby conversation the text travels over the phone radio — Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct — not through the carrier. You do not need mobile data or venue Wi-Fi. You do need proximity and the app running on the phones involved.
Does offChat work on any phone?
The documented mesh is the KingFy Android app. It does not replicate Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct in a browser. There is no iPhone peer on this mesh. On Android, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi Direct still depend on hardware and granted permissions.
What is the difference between Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct and P2P mesh?
Bluetooth is a short link between phones that can already see each other. Wi-Fi Direct uses the Wi-Fi radio without a router and usually reaches farther than classic Bluetooth when both sides support it. Mesh starts when more than two phones have offChat on: a middle phone can relay when the ends cannot reach each other. These layers are not the same thing.
Can I send messages with no Wi-Fi and no mobile data?
Yes for a local conversation: the phones talk over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct. You do not need router Wi-Fi or a carrier data plan. Without radio proximity there is no delivery.
Does offChat need the internet to work?
Nearby chat does not need the internet. Installing KingFy, creating an account and using other Super App modules may need a network. OffChat, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi Direct and mesh exist only in the Android app.
Does offChat work at any distance?
No. Range is limited by the phone’s Bluetooth or Wi-Fi Direct radios and by walls, crowds and terrain. It does not deliver to someone in another city without internet.
Is offChat free?
offChat is a module of the KingFy app listed on Google Play. KingFy states that you can create an account without a credit card. Other Super App modules may use credits. This site does not invent price, ratings or download counts.
How do I install offChat?

Do both phones need the same app?
Yes. Each side needs KingFy Android with offChat on. It does not deliver to SMS, iMessage or another messenger.
